dThe Viking day we had on Wednesday was the best thing in the entire world. We dressed up like Vikings, fought like Vikings and learnt how to live like a Viking. OliviaQ volunteered to be a part of a Viking crew. The man that came in said that his name was Olaf Grimson and that he was a Viking.Olaf asked us if we wanted to be a part of his Viking crew, Olaf said that if we were going to be a part of his crew we had to submit a oath, it went a little like this.”we are Vikings this is what we do, we row, we fight, we steal, we row, we fist, aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.”

On Wednesday a Viking came in and told us all about all of the Gods that Vikings used to be live in.One of the gods was called Odin.Odin gave one of his eyes to a giant.Vikings believe that before the world was made it was just ice on one side and fire on the other side, and in the middle there was nothing. Then one day a giant came out and from one of his drops of sweat appeared the first man.We also learnt about how to use shields and we also made a big turtle out of the shields to protect ourselves from getting hit by a foam javaling stick. We were pretending that the javaling sticks were swords. It was very fun.The man said that when you cut a tree with an axe you can see how old the tree is by looking at the lines on the tree. One line is two years old.

Yesterday, Year 4 carried out an investigation about whether height affects the length of our bones! After planning our prediction and method, we started measuring each other’s heights and arm span from elbow to wrist. After recording the results, next lesson we will be drawing graphs to present our results!

Here are some photos of us working!

…but the ferocious wind …

Please make sure you link the correct week and that you have used the best vocabulary you can think of.

Once upon a time Poppy and her family lived a quiet life in the countryside. Poppy lived far away from her school. Her mum and dad were in superb jobs and Poppy hated her school. Poppy asked if she could go to another school. On her first day an enormous bird called Ruby came, Poppy was petrified. The bird picked her up and strapped her to a piece of rigid wood. She put her on a log which was as black as night and soggy and damp. She tried not to be scared but the bird came closer and she screamed!

Once upon a time in a land faraway, there lived a royal princess.Every day she would ring her fancy bell to get her diabolical servants. Her servants never heard the bell or never listened to her orders.Tomorrow Alice the princess is going to a royal ball but does not know what to wear. Can you help? Now at afternoon,Alice would take a little rest or nap to get her mind working again. When she wakes up,she rings her fancy bell again and gets some yummy jacket potato with grated cheese.Mmmm.At two o’clock she sits down and writes down some chores for her servants to do.

On Tuesday we created maps of North America with a twist! We have been learning about the different types of terrain, such as mountains, rivers, deserts and lakes, and instead of simply drawing them, we created them using sweets!

We used licorice laces for the rivers and lakes, yellow glitter for deserts and chocolate raisins for mountains!

Here are some pictures to show what we did!
