The mad hatter is from Alice and wonderland, his character is weired and he looks like he is going to a fancy dress party to the queen of hearts house .his clothes look rich with all his jewels ,lace and silk on his hat . also his hat is very big and he dresses not normal his hair is orange and glows like a fire also big and wild face is as white as a ghost he has eye shadow on which is very scarey and his hand bag is multi coloured i think he has a rabbit called peter  and  he is magic the mad hatter also had a tea party

Do make sure you check your pieces before posting. Sometimes they need a bit of a tweak. Reading them out loud often helps to see where you need to make changes.

Hi Year 4, here is some homework for this week! Don’t worry, I will tell everyone on Monday as I know not everyone can access the blog at home!

As we have been practicing  descriptions of characters from fantasy world I would like you to describe a character from Alice in Wonderland, a fantastic story where Alice falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy land!

You can choose from either the Mad Hatter or the Queen of Hearts. If you want to do both that is ok but I would rather you focus on one. Use the pictures as a prompt. Remember to think about:

– what they look like (clothes, body, face)

– what kind of personality might they have

– how they might be feeling or what they could be thinking

Remember lots of detail (adjectives, verbs, adverbs, adverbs, similes, etc) and punctuation in the right places!

Suddenly I was able to see again… when I was blind I imagined a world full of colour. Bright lights, beautiful flowers and colourful rainbows. With no sight my world was dark and lonely.

I was excited on the day of the operation. When I woke up I could see some light shining. Three days passed and my eye sight got better. I could finally see my friends and family. Their beautiful eyes, hair and smiles finally made me feel part of a family. My first adventure was going to a funfair. I enjoyed every minute. I can now see all the wonderful things around me.

Jonah and the Whale

In RE this week we have been looking in detail about the story of Jonah and the Whale. We learned how Jonah was asked by God to go to the city, but refused and tried to escape on a boat. Goad caused a huge storm and, when they found out it was Jonah’s fault, the sailors threw Jonah overboard! A huge whale swallowed Jonah and he stayed in it’s belly for three days and nights until the whale coughed him up onto a beach. When God asked Jonah to go to the city a second time, Jonah agreed.

– Why did Jonah disobey God?

– Why did Jonah admit the storm was his fault?

– Why did Jonah agree to go to the city in the end?

– What is the message of the story?

One  cold winters day Madison was playing on her computer wile her mum was washing  up. Madison was 9 years old and her mum was thirty  years old they lived on they were own. One day Madison asked if she could play out side with friends, Massey and iChat .  She said “off  course not it is too dark”.  Madison  ran up stairs and shut her door. suddenly a wizard came and said “I am gowing to cast a spell on you I am going to make you blind “. Madison   screamed   she  ran   down  stairs and went to her mum and said im blind .  her mum was a witch so then  suddenly I was able to see again. Too be continued …

Hello Year 4!

Here is this week’s prompt for the 100 Word Challenge. It is a special one this week, as it is linked with a charity called Sight Savers, which helps people who have cataracts. Cataracts form over your eyes and cause cloudiness; they are the number one cause for blindness in the world. Think about how your life would be affected if you couldn’t see; think about all the things you would find hard to do, or wouldn’t be able to do at all.

The prompt is:              …suddenly I was able to see again…      This must be included in your writing.

Think about how you would feel if this was you! Remember how important it is to read back through your work to check punctuation, spellings and that your sentences make sense.

The best birthday ever!!!

One scorching hot day I was in bed and I was thinking about what a beautiful birthday I would have on such a nice warm day, so I decided to quickly get out of bed and run down the stairs to great my wonderful family. I then discovered that my family was not there, so I then decided to go back up the stairs and look into my mum and dads bedroom and there I saw my dreadful sister Olivia sleeping in my mum and dads warm comfy bed. Then I walked into my sisters bedroom and there I saw my beloved mum and dad laying in my sisters hard un-comfy bed, so I whispered to myself  “what happened around here?” so I then decided to go and wake them all up, and how did I  do that exactly? I yelled “wake up guys it’s my birthday” and then they all jumped of bed as quick as a fox. Just then they all went down the stairs with me, the room was all plain before, but now it looks magical with all the presents stacked and the banners hung. After that I managed to open one of my presents and it was a door, but not just an ordinary door, a magical door. Also it was from a monkey then I wanted to go through it to see who it was from as it sounded mysterious, so whilst my mum, dad and sister all turned around I twisted the door knob and whisked my way through into a mythical world. When I got there I saw allsorts I saw dragons and fairies and I saw unicorns and Pegasus. I also saw a large sea monster working its way through the water. I could smell a candy house with lollipops as trees and sugar paper as grass and their they lived a sweet scrumptious ginger-bread-man, but yet he looked so cute. So I went over to have a better look and to see how friendly they all were, but they never saw a real life human before so they ran into their houses and started to scream and yell for help I tried my best to help them but the closer I got the louder they screamed and them a toy police car with toy police men inside it came to try and arrest me but their handcuffs were far to small, so therefore they couldn’t catch me so then I ran and ran and ran all the way to the door that I came from. I can now clearly say that I have had the best birthday ever.
